Over the last month the University of Georgia community has been making a difference one brick oven pizza at a time with Your Pie’s Greek Madness. A play on the March Madness tournament, Greek Madness allows sororities and fraternities to compete against each other in a in a head-to-head competition to earn money for the philanthropy of their choice. The final round of the competition concludes at close of business Wednesday, April 25, 2012 as Sigma Delta Tau and Chi Omega compete in a one-on-one showdown to see who will win Greek Madness glory and $1250 to the philanthropy of their choice.

Each year, Your Pie donates over $20,000 to the community through percentage nights and food donations. In the past two years, Your Pie has donated nearly $5000 towards local and national philanthropies through the Greek Madness competition. Sororities and Fraternities earn points in the competition through dollars spent at Your Pie. For every $4 spent, one point is earned. The finalists win $1250, $500 and $250 respectively, that will be donated to their chosen philanthropy. The final two teams also receive a pizza party hosted by Your Pie.

Your Pie’s desire to give back to the community sparked the idea for this competition.
“One of our company’s core values is community, so giving back to the community is in our blood,” said Drew French, founder of the Your Pie Franchise. “This competition is a fun way for organizations to compete in order to give to philanthropies that are close to their heart.”

After a back-to-back victory for Zeta Tau Alpha, two new sororities have risen to the top in the 2012 competition. This year Sigma Delta Tau and Chi Omega will compete in the Greek Madness finals. These organizations rose through the ranks of the brackets by engaging community members through sending emails across sorority listservs, making chapter announcements and promoting the event through social media.

Sigma Delta Tau is competing to raise money for Women’s Imaging Center at St. Mary’s. Located off Ga. 316 on Daniels Bridge Road, the center combines high-tech diagnostic and treatment with convenience, comfort and privacy. The center strives to provide patients with compassionate care that enriches emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
Chi Omega is competing for a donation for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish Foundation is the nation’s largest wish-granting organization. The foundation gives hope and joy to children with life-threatening conditions by making their biggest dreams come true.

After three years, Greek Madness has grown beyond the University of Georgia campus and is making a difference across the southeast on college campuses such as Georgia Southern University and Florida State University.

In the Greek Madness competition, organizations get to choose their own cause by selecting the philanthropy of their choice, making the Your Pie Greek Madness tournament personalized, just like Your Pie pizzas. Your Pie is proud of all the organizations that have competed in Greek Madness over the past three years. Each of these organizations have made an impact in their community, one pie at a time.
